SHM
Metro Testing Laboratories can provide low cost and long lasting solutions for structural health monitoring. SHM is one of the today’s tools available to improve the safety of our infrastructure and to extend the lifecycle of existing structures.
There are a number of systems existing on the market which allow measurements of acceleration, strain, temperature and moisture. However these systems are rather expensive and owners have been driven away from installing structural health monitoring systems due to the high cost of installation and operation.

Our systems are affordable and have an estimated battery lifespan of a minimum 20 years installed on the structure.
They offer measurement of vibration, strain, angular movement, crack activity monitoring, moisture and temperature on a footprint of a few square inches.
The sensors are easy to install (peel and stick method) and come preconfigured to stream data after installation.
Up to 1000 sensors can be handled by the wireless data-collection bridge device which is installed somewhere close to the sensors. The integrated wireless bridge sends the data to our data server which can be accessed from virtually everywhere in the world. Our technology allows for deployment in the most remote locations even when there is no cell phone network present.
Data is transmitted via GPRS, GSM, CDMA or Sattelite network.
Our reports can be generated on a weekly or monthly basis as to the client/owner’s needs to communicate any structural changes.
Alarm threshold levels can be set in the sensor and our server to notify the owner/client if some of the measurements exceed the predefined settings. This allows the owner/client to investigate immediately to avoid any further and more costly damages.
Our monitoring center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year to retrieve data from your structure.
