Instrumentation & Modelling
Metro’s instrumentation and modelling team has the right experience and equipment when it comes to data loggers, load cells, temperature loggers, thermocouples, movement monitors, and more.
Concrete Hydration Monitoring
Often a requirement for cold weather concrete placement on jobs from Vancouver to Williams Lake to Fort St John, Metro has the equipment and experience to monitor concrete as it cures. This service is also valuable for deciding when to strip formwork. Metro Testing can help you save time and money by stripping your forms at the right time.
Concrete Thermodynamic Modelling
Will that propane heater be enough to keep the concrete from freezing? Will ice need to be added to the concrete mix on a hot day? As concrete experts, Metro has developed models and computer programs that can predict heat generation and loss for fresh concrete. Based on your mix design, geometry, and environmental parameters, we can calculate required insulation or heating required for a successful cold-weather concrete pour, or the ice required to concrete on hot summer days. This program has kept a Calgary megaproject pouring concrete through the cold Alberta winter.
Specialty Instrumentation & Monitoring
Metro’s instrumentation team is always happy to take on your challenging projects. Recently, Metro began monitoring the movement of building control joints to help specify the proper joint sealant. We also have designed the instrumentation and data logging systems for many specialty materials testing devices.
